I agree. My wife was saved this year by her psychiatrist from being tormented by OCD all day every day to the point of incapacitation. That is actually the basic proper definition of a “disorder.” If the mental affliction doesn't severely impact daily life, then it isn't a disorder. That concept is missing from this article.
Yes, there is a lot of educated guessing in the form of trails (and errors) with different drugs bordering on witch-doctoring at times (it took three years) but some patients are more challenging than others.
So far I have begged, pleaded and ordered the guys in white jackets to get four of our family members with bipolar disorder in to see a shrink and onto proper meds. In some cases it took years, but they are all doing much better now and, frankly, much less likely to kill themselves (as my sister did 20 years ago when she was not properly diagnoses and treated).
Grieving a year after the death of a spouse can now trigger a recommendation for drugs due to “excessive grief”. Yet there is a serious move to accept things that are horrible:
* minimize sexual attraction to minors (pedophilia under a less offensive name) and act as if the attraction is OK, but only the rape is bad
* homosexuality in any regard is fine, it is only bad if you feel bad, and only the anxiety is treated, and conversion back to heterosexual is a crime in the offing
* considering yourself the wrong gender (I’m a girl, I want to be a guy) is now treated with hormones even in young children; children with “body dysmorphic disorder” aren’t counseled as to “why do you want to be the other gender” but “let’s give you hormones to change your per-adolescent body as you think it should be”
“Equilibrium” is a decent movie, but I think the liberals actually want to move toward “Brave New World”.

Yep. The public school where we had our eldest in kindergarten tried to run that lie on us, which compelled us to take him out and find another route to educating him. Best thing we ever did for him and his siblings.
