Oh, my. I met Ray and got started with political limericks on his show. One night he asked for a limerick about Paula Jones. So I got this on the air:
That Paula, he thought, was some filly
When pants dropped, she thought him quite silly
But then later she’d file
And he soon lost his smile
He shouldn’t have whipped out old Willie
I then did a limerick almost every day incorporating his word of the day and he read it on the air.
RIP, my friend. What a great voice he was for truth and freedom.
I always looked forward to your calls to George and Ray and the limericks. It was there that I was introduced to a crazy website called FreeRepublic in the late 90’s.
And here we are.
Godspeed Ray
I remember your limericks!! Always looked forward to them.
Ray was the first of a long line of conservative 'talkers' - few of which have been near as good as he was.
Ray was a real gentleman. I miss Ray and George, and your calls. Time flies, life is short.
A sad day, today, all around.
