He's simply clueless. Put it in journalistic lingo, using their equipment... they MIGHT grasp it! I wouldn't hold my breath though. I think there's more in play here.

Murdoch is expressing in so many words what members of his family and other investors imagine to be impending senility.

May be he feels he has a stake in no one cracking down on the psychiatry industry and forcing them to take appropriate action to keep the nut cases off the street. Hence, his feeble and obvious attempt to change the subject ~ even he should know automatic firearms are not available on the open market in this country.
