Now I am not advocating a "Police State", or a complete armed society. But suppose each state government authorized the States' National Guard to post several trained members in each school. Being state employees this should not conflict with the ban on using the federal military in our own country. This would be done only after the participants have qualified as expert on the range with both sidearms and rifles, and have had CQB training and have shown themselves to be proficient. These could be posted on a revolving basis, and the time spent "on duty" would count toward their required ACDUTRA time for the year. Their "deployment" would be reasonably local, and they could spend their nights at home.
I know this might give the appearance of an "armed" society, but if you recall this was done following 911 and no one really objected.
These are our children and grandchildren we are talking about, and I cannot think of anything more precious and worth protecting. It is sad for me to think that after over 5 decades of life in this country, several years of which were spent in defense of my country, that I would even consider such an option. Evil has once again shown its' very ugly face, and it scares the hell out of me.
50 years 50 million abortions since Roe V Wade. Not much outrage. In fact it is paid for with your tax dollars one way or another.
Where is the logic where one of these incidents garners days of media hand wringing?

Where is the logic where one of these incidents garners days of media hand wringing and the other we’re not supposed to talk about in polite company and is euphemistically referred to as “birth control”?
I heard there was a petition at We The People promoting a gun ban as a way to save the children, I did one of my own:
Parents should be free to pull their children out of public school and place them in the environment of their own choosing. For some, that might mean homeschooling, while for others it might mean a smaller private/parochial school. Let individual parents decide the structure and level of security that they want and are willing to pay for. To say that all schools need to have x or that no schools may permit y is nothing but a bunch of top down micromanagement.
Yes, you could do this. The National Guard would fight you tooth and nail. The schools would fight you tooth and nail. The security firms would fight you tooth and nail. And most importantly, the Democrats would fight you tooth and nail. After 9/11, I sent forward a recommendation to place armed National Guard Officers on civilian passenger planes until they could train up more Air Marshalls. The silence was deafening. The business of the Federal government is to create jobs, and they did. You will spend a long time looking for the government supervisor who wants to keep his staff at the same level and be more efficient.
How about this:
Teachers train to teach for 4 or 6 or 8 years.
If they want to be teachers in our classrooms, part of their training will include how to handle a gun, like the military is trained.
Those potential teachers will also have to pass psychological tests, to insure that, they’re not the next wacko that is legally assigned a gun and a classroom full of kids or students.
When those teachers are trained and ready, they will be assigned handguns, not necessarily to be worn in class in front of their students, but easily available for when the need arises. Experienced teachers, with 5 or so years experience, will be the only ones allowed to carry concealed weapons in class and in campus.
Teachers will be required to re-qualify in the handling of handguns at least every 2 years.
Anybody that is against the second amendment and against the use of guns for self-defense purposes, will be disqualified to teach.
Teachers are mostly liberals, and as democrats, they’re part of the society that complains the loudest about how handguns are getting into the wrong hands and killing people. It’s time they became part of the solution instead of the problem.
The job of the police is to protect the people. The job of the military is to fight the enemy. When you try to turn the military into the police, the people become the enemy.
I would just allow teachers and school staff to carry.
The cowards who let loose at school would not get far before they were shot dead. Most would probably not bother shooting up a school if they knew most of the adults there were armed.
Way cheaper this way.
The crime rate has been generally falling for about 20-25 years almost everywhere in the country. This despite predictions that violent video games, music, etc, would drive the crime rate up.
You can’t let an awful murder spree like this convince you that somehow society is in need of more government control. The reality is things are not getting worse when it comes to crime, they’ve actually been improving.
What is wrong with every Adult who wants to exercising their Second Amendment Rights?
I WANT an armed society. It is the only way some of this sh*t will finally stop...
If you want real protection in these no-gun zones, you have to stop the no-gun nonsense and have a percentage of the staff REQUIRED to be trained and armed. These mass-murderers don't pick gun-free colleges/schools/theaters by accident - putting more guns in the mix will greatly reduce their options until they know they will be in a war instead of shooting fish in a barrel.
