The Christmas season is the inspiration for this week's feature. "Holiday Inn", the film that introduced the world to the perennial classic song "White Christmas". Easily one of the best musical films of the 1940s. Enjoy.

Never really liked it or “White Christmas” but they are at least watchable.

White Christmas would have been better without Danny Kaye.

Holiday Inn has been a "must see" every year at our house. My Dad (1919-1999) use to whistle just like Bing in the White Christmas song and has special meaning to me. It is also a "must see" for my 20 year old daughter.

"Bomb patrol".

That’s a neat story. Also encouraging that a 20 year old would like it. So many young folks tend to reject the classics since they’re “so old!” and/or don’t use MTV-style editing.

I always liked Danny Kaye and Vera-Ellen more than Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney in that film. They were the more fun couple.

My favorite movie. It used to be shown the evening of Thanksgiving, but isn’t anymore..I always watch it and White Christmas sometime during the Holidays.

Thanks. I introduced my daughter to some of the better known classics while she was young (she came late in my life at the age of 45). She literally wore out my 6-hour Curly special of the Three Stooges and her two favorites other than Holiday Inn are Casablanca and Singing in the Rain - especially Donald O’conners parts.

She is now a Graphic Artist and I hope my stirring her to the arts helped.

If you have not seen it I would highly recommend it to all. It is one of the best musicals ever done. The fireworks scene is unbelievable.

I love this musical and I think it is much better than “White Christmas”.

To be a bit more specific, “White Christmas” is a good movie that will bring tears to your eyes. “Holiday Inn” has all of that but it also has many scenes in which you want to jump and cheer for loyalty and for the good old USA. It is positively stunning.

your kids need to see this musical.
