I’ve seen some local kayakers doing somersaults and spins in a small flume in a fast channel of the Delaware River, but fifty-foot falls? How do you learn to do this without dying, and when are they going to make Niagara a routine event?

A class V paddler told me the reason the paddlers toss their paddle forward as they fall is so they don’t get smacked in the face with it or pull their arms out of the socket when they land.
