In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of Word for the Day.

b. A sweet gelatinous pudding made by straining boiled oatmeal or flour.

A flummery? I thought it was a shrubbery.
Nit.
Ni
I’m so sick of the Republican flummery in Congress. This morning, they are eating each other: blaming their Tea Party members for the failure of Plan B. But wasn’t Plan B just another bait and switch? They remind me of ucy and the football. “Here, just take these itty bitty tax increases and we’ll promise huge cuts later.” Bah, humbug! Not another penny to any of them.
When you get a Christmas card (with a handwritten note) from your State Senator that starts out saying, “We are really in big trouble...” you know that we are in big trouble.
Pedant
Morning. Rain and sleet overnight....dreary here.
Here is a sort, sweet summary
How Boehner should deal with the flummery
Don’t add on more taxes
Chop spending with axes
And stop the bipartisan chummery
Perfect! I must still be dreaming, I have a smile on my fact despite the lousy weather.
We got nothing overnight. A flurry or two around now. They’re still saying an inch or three before Saturday’s done.
Consider it my gift to you. ;-)
River is high, creeks look like they will overflow and my side yard is a lake. Two inflatables are floating in water. I warned DH, but did he listen? NO! We can’t take another flood in the village. Only a few are even done remodeling from the last one. The rain keeps coming down hard.
Just like waterfront property, white Christmases are over-rated.
I meant to add that the sun is out today — sparkling on a thick layer of snow that looks like it is going to stay around for a while. That means that the storm is heading your way. Sorry about that.
a review word, how nice
Luckily my husband "lives here now" so he was able to bleed the sprinkler lines last night since we actually got below freezing! Slept without the heater on but I actually got cold during the night, even with that guy beside me!
36 degrees right now...
an early Christmas present...what can I say? ;^)
Maybe it will turn to snow. We had a light dusting overnight. The weatherman called for more.
I have a first grade Christmas party this afternoon. I am wondering WHY I agreed to this? What was I thinking? My hip hurts so much these days that I clean for 5-10 minutes and then get a few minutes on the computer. I am not even up to Christmas shopping, but DH just added something to his list...well, the only thing on his list is what he added. He was out in his Santa gear and his gloves were filthy...he realized it was from his steering wheel, so he wants a cover for it. (sigh) Too late to order on line.
We went to the diner for dinner last night, when we came out the sleet was falling and the parking lot was covered with it. Nothing but rain at home. We live high on a hill, we often miss the weather the rest of the valley gets. I drive down off my hill and head that way and there is a line I cross and the weather immediately changes. Weird.
