EXECUTIVE ORDER

CLOSING OF EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2012
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered as follows:
Section 1. All executive branch departments and agencies of the Federal Government shall be closed and their employees excused from duty on Monday, December 24, 2012, the day before Christmas Day, except as provided in section 2 of this order.
Sec. 2. The heads of executive branch departments and agencies may determine that certain offices and installations of their organizations, or parts thereof, must remain open and that certain employees must report for duty on December 24, 2012, for reasons of national security, defense, or other public need.
Sec. 3. Monday, December 24, 2012, shall be considered as falling within the scope of Executive Order 11582 of February 11, 1971, and of 5 U.S.C. 5546 and 6103(b) and other similar statutes insofar as they relate to the pay and leave of employees of the United States.
Sec. 4. The Director of the Office of Personnel Management shall take such actions as may be necessary to implement this order.
Sec. 5. General Provisions. (a) This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.
(b) Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:
(i) the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or
(ii) the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.
(c) This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

Undoubtedly. Can't have them coming in on a Monday when Tuesday is a holiday. That just wouldn't be right. I mean, it's not like they get vacation pay or anything. /s

Don’t misunderstand. This is just another notch in a very long belt of misdeeds and usurpations. I was just commenting on the frustrating verbiage giving this jackwagon any rights or privileges at all.
I understand some of the marines at pendleton are off from today until Jan 2. Perhaps we should bah humbug that also.

If a moslem president wants to give Christmas Eve off, works for me.
Certainly you’re not trying to compare Marines to some pencil pushers in Washington. If people want the day off that is what their vacation time is for.
Only the civil service is being given the day off.
The thought is that such a small fraction of the people would actually be in the office, so its more cost efficient to just keep the building heat at a minimum for 4 days straight. Obama has frozen the pay of government workers for going on 3 years now, so he isn’t doing this to be nice.

With my private sector job I get 5 of the above - with Friday after Thanksgiving and Monday before Christmas as a paid holiday.
So Public Sector goes from 10 to 11 - just ducky.....
Here’s a question, because it’s now a paid Holiday do those working the day get overtime now?

Can’t speak for the other services but in the Navy (unless its changed, I retired in ‘97) but you’re off unless you have duty and maybe you might score a “comp” day. If you’re underway, it’s usually “Holiday Routine” most can chillax and watch movies, write letters etc but the watchstanders for that day still have to be on their posts!
The Boehner Plan B passing higher tax rates on millionaires will increase the tax a few individuals have to pay, it will not increase tax revenues to the treasury.
Or what’s not being explained about the Democrat tax increase on those with 250k and above, it will not increase tax revenues to the treasury or improve the economy.
Camp Lejeune has a traffic jam going off the base right now.
If you could find ANYONE in FedGov after noon today it would be a miracle....
Evidently our state offices are too because I called the DMV office this morning and asked what days they were going to be open next week and they said Wed-Fri.
Actually, any day that the fedgov leaches are safely at home and not in their offices coming up with new ways to f-—k us, that is a gift to all of the american people.
I would like it very much if these people were off work every day of the year.
