After the train came to a quick stop, Goetz jumped to the tracks below and disappeared into the darkness of the subway tunnel.

There were others in the car who gave a description of him, and an anonymous caller to the police told police he/she thought it was Goetz. While on the run, Goetz called his neighbor. The neighbor told him the police had been by his apartment and were looking for him.
