The registers are right at the exit at the local best buy, I don’t get why they then need to check your bags, I was pregnant last time I went in, I was a little grouchy and I haven’t been back, for this reason but I would never hit someone over it.

Private property, private store. in small print on the front door it says “all bags subject to search”.. you agreed to it when you walked through the door.

Don’t like it, don’t shop there. Problem solved.

Might want to avoid Costco and Sam’s too.

I do for the same reason your worked up.

I assume this is the same Fairview Heights where the customers attacked a server at Red Lobster a few months ago:

except for that pesky “ALL BAGS SUBJECT TO SEARCH” on the front door.

You where warned and went in anyways knowing “ALL” bags can be searched. Including the one they give you.

Wow...your legal definition of an unwarranted search equates to my selling a car without a title?

Does this mean you want me to require Best Buy provide proof of legal ownership before I buy their refrigerator?

I’m the buyer, not the seller. I legally purchased the merchandise at their register. It’s mine at that point. Best Buy agreed and I agreed at the transaction. From that point on it’s my merchandise to do with whatever I want.

They have no more right to look into my bag than perform a cavity search.....

Small print (or large print) on the door doesn’t equate to required compliance. That’s corporate policy and does not trump existing law nor your constitutional rights...

Read my post #48 for my thoughts on Sam’s Club....

Best Buy doesn’t have a problem with me shopping there and I have no problem politely refusing their unwarranted searches....They welcome me back with open arms....

They could ban me at any time if they wanted or I could refuse too shop there....

Why do you have a problem?

If Best Buy was owned by the government, everyone would be going nuts....what gives?

It doesn’t work that way....They can post anything they want on the front door but that doesn’t mean implied consent.....

Corporate policy doen’t trupm law nor constitutional rights....

Best Buy likes me shopping there, I have no problem politely refusing their unwarranted searches....

Please feel free to submit to whatever searches you want...

Just don’t ask me to surrender my dignity nor constitional rights and freedom to Best Buy or any other retailer...

I’m not going to research it because I don’t care.. You are entering private property every time you go in to Best Buy. Their door warns you of the search.

They are being nice and letting you out with out looking because they don’t think your a problem and don’t want the hassle.

Me, I just skip BB all together and buy from someone else. I like my sales people to know more about the product than I do.

Also, if your ok with Sams, if BB changed you a membership fee and had you sign a contract you’d be ok with it?

Your logic fails me.

Great discourse...your Mom should be proud of you....

It’s called dignity, personal freedom and constitutional rights.....Hardly liberal principals.....

Oh, did I mention...established law is clearly on my side....

“Anyone going anywhere in public unarmed that has any chance of interaction with the Reparations Class is a fool....”

And then you get your butt thrown in jail....It’s best, and I admit a lousy way to live, to avoid interaction with that element....I shop very early in the morning when I have to....They usually ask for a receipt at the exit door when I go to Walmart and I just show the receipt....I just want to get in and out....Like I said very few people at 9 in the morning on a weekday.....The grocery store the same deal....And I don’t go to stores in areas where they shop.....

“You are making a liberal ass of yourself.”

Absolutely.

Good people in there busting their asses for $8/an hour and Thurston Howell here has to rub their noses in it, make their jobs just a little bit tougher.

Helluva big man.

The logic behind agreeing with Sam’s Club and not Best Buy is that I did not enter into a written contract with Best Buy agreeing to a search at the door.

If Best Buy became a membership club and I signed a contract agreeing to the search, I would comply.

I honor my contracts.....

Yes BB is private property, they can ban me at any time if they so wish. Any notice on the door is not a contract nor implied consent on your part.

Don’t give up your right to an unwarranted search so easily. They have no more right to look in your bag then they do to ask you to drop tro for a search.....

You wouldn’t do the latter why do you comply on the first?

We are being conditioned as a society not to be free men anymore.

Look. they can ban me at any time and I can quit shopping there at any time.....

You’re right they probably don’t see me as a problem and don’t want the hassle so the store security and I have a polite standoff, I don’t care and they don’t either....

There you are wrong, they have no right unless they have observed you shoplifting.... It’s three steps from the register to the front door under close scrutiny.... Please tell me what law or right they have, and be specific

it's their store and you are still in it....part of their normal proceedure is to check your mdse. against your sales slip....everyone, not just you. I believe Sam's club does just that and I have no problem with it....if you don't agree with their stated proceedure....don't shop there!!
