I'm well aware of secondary AIDS transmission by contaminated blood and other means, and those cases are tragic. I didn't want to write an epic with all sorts of conditional phrases. But those who contracted the disease initially had the option of avoiding gay sex, intravenous drug use and other risky behavior.
Worse, now the Red Cross and a certain group of U.S. politicians -- one of whom is rumored to have served in Vietnam and is now being considered for the job of Secretary of State -- want to lift the ban on gay male blood donors.
