So well put:

We are so “full” of ourselves that there is no room left for God. And that means there is no room for others either, for children, for the poor, for the stranger.

By reflecting on that one simple saying about the lack of room at the inn, we have come to see how much we need to listen to Saint Paul’s exhortation: “Be transformed by the renewal of your mind” (Rom 12:2). Paul speaks of renewal, the opening up of our intellect (nous), of the whole way we view the world and ourselves.

The last few paragraphs are confounding. Does the Pope truly believe that the muslims and the Christians share the same God? If he does, then he is sadly wrong. Until the truth is told about that, then the quest for peace will go unanswered.

The mentions of monotheism apparently sailed over your head.

No, that word did not sail over my head. I am pretty sure that the Pope was talking about some sort of moral equivalency where none exists. PC politics mixed with the spirital reality never works.

I think he is referring to monotheism in the sense of the God of Abraham. In a sense, neither Muslims nor Jews believe in the Trinitarian God.

The muslims do not believe in the God of Abraham. Allah is something totally different. We ignore that at our own peril.

I’m not sure about that. The Koran speaks to the God of Abraham and Ishmael

What the Pope means by Monotheism is, basically, what Christians mean by it—one God, three Persons, the Trinity.

He mentions Islam at the end, but does not address the issue of whether Allah is the one God of the Bible. He only prays that Christians and Muslims may live together in peace. That’s not likely, given what Muslims are, but there’s nothing wrong in hoping for a miraculous solution to the problems of the Middle East.

The muslims very much believe in the God of Abraham. They believe, however, that the true line came down the line of Ishmael rather than Isaac. Everything falls apart for them after that.

They may talk about the God of Abraham & Ishmael - but the God of Abraham, my God, is NOT Allah. Allah gives the muslmis their marching orders, and that’s not the same god at all.

The pope is perfectly aware of that, but this isn’t the moment to get into it. The Muslims insist that they are monotheists and believe in the same God that Jews and Christians do. Obviously, this is nonsense; they might believe in a little trace of the religion, but simply because Islam is a syncretist religion made up of bits of Judaism, bits of Christianity, bits of old fashioned ME paganism, and bits of the esoteric arcana circulating in the ME at that time. It’s very similar to Mormonism (or Mormonism is similar to it), and this is the way it can be understood.

Of course, it is also so far from the truth by now that it has been wholly taken over by Satan, and the Pope knows that, too. But for the innocents among them, one should hold out an olive branch, especially at Christmas. It’s a Christian thing to do.
