Some people should just be terminated. Killing a relative, particularly and elderly women, with a hammer should be an executable offense. It would have saved several lives and would have probably been merciful to the nutcase who lived an obviously tortured life.

In the 1980 murder news story, Assistant DA Louis Pilato and Monroe County Court Judge Eugene W. Bergin both agreed to Willilam Spengler's last second plea bargaining to manslaughter (just as jurors were to be brought in), despite the admission that such a late plea is not normally accepted. (A 25-year prison sentence resulted.)

These men bear some of the moral guilt for the murders of the firemen.
