According to Dallas County records, the couple married in 2005 and Roy Lee Gooden filed for divorce from his wife in April. The divorce was petition was dismissed in October after he failed to follow through with it.
In August 2010, Irving police responded to Roy Lee Gooden’s apartment after receiving a report of a stabbing involving two women. His relationship to them is not clear.
When police arrived, officers found that Roy Lee Gooden had a stab wound on his cheek. One woman told police that he had walked down the stairs with an open pocket knife, saying, “I’m going to kill you and your mother.”
The woman told police that he then lunged at both of them and a struggle for the knife ensued. He was cut on the cheek and the daughter was cut on the arm the struggle, police records state.
