Absolutely nothing will change for the better at the Dallas Cowboys organization until Jerry Jones is no longer the owner/coach/general manager.
Totally agree.
Jerry Jones is a crook who stole millions of infrastructure money and buried it in that stadium (paying off the Arlington city council with lifetime box seats).
Lots of parts of south Arlington have suffered flooding and other problems because their tax dollars were diverted.
Jilt Jerry J. first, then clean the rest of the house.
Well.. I absolutely despise the Cowboys, but in fairness, three of their five SB wins have come since Jones took over the team.
This is probably the case. Jerry wants to win, he will spend huge money to win, he will do everything you want an owner to do to win - except hire a solid GM and coach and just get the heck out of the way. He's just a huge ego who can't even admit he screwed up splitting with Johnson.
The Redskins had a similar problem, but Snyder figured out that he had to hire a GM and a professional coach and step back and let things go forward largely without him. Because of that the skins' put themselves in a position to compete for championships for probably many years to come.
Romo is a good quarterback, but not a great one. He will probably do well in a smaller market city where he can exceed expectations, but in Dallas he is never going to measure. Romo is one of those guys who looks awesome in practice, attends all the meetings, works extra late, knows the playbook inside and out, but when the pressure is on he just seems to forget all of that and choke.
I used to say the same thing after Dan Snyder bought the Redskins. But, apparently, Shanahan laid down the law to Dan when he was hired and Shanahan seems to know what he’s doing. No more multi-million dollar deals to over-the-hill stars. Snyder’s ownership resume is filled with them. Shanahan drafts a couple of solid guys and now the Redskins are playing like they want to win a championship.
Somewhere along the line the moniker 'America's Team' was bestowed upon the Dallas Cowboys. It may go back to the Tom Landry days, a coach I respected ... but, as a long time Bronco fan, I resented that term every time some talking head sports announcer uttered the words. I'm sure Steeler, Raider, Packer fans, etc., felt the same way. Anytime I watch the Dallas Cowboys play I'm for the other team. Jerry Jones makes it easy.
