The Saint Albans Police Department and the West Virginia State Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the woman they say struck an off-duty trooper. The trooper was trying to apprehend the woman for shoplifting according to a news release from the SAPD.
The incident happened at the Saint Albans Mall near the Goody's clothing store at around 5 p.m. according to authorities.
The woman is white, according to police, in her 30s, wearing a long sleeve pink shirt and boots. She has medium-length wavy brown hair.
Police believe that she is driving a small dark colored, possibly flat black, compact car with rust along the bottom.
If anyone has any information about this car or woman, call Saint Albans police at 304-348-8111 or 911. Callers may remain anonymous.
The trooper is at Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital in the intensive care unit.

I just keep wondering how this woman “struck” the trooper so badly that he ends up on life support. It’s hard to believe that she did it with her fists. What did she use?
It must have been with the car. The report is poor on details.
From what I heard in the K-Mart from employees it was her car. She was trying to get away. She was shoplifting but not sure if it was Goody’s or K-Mart, although all the police cars were in front of K-Mart. From what I heard she was driving like a bat out of hell.
