I am an American.

I was born that way. In a small town in New England right at the end of World War II, in which my father was a submariner. We weren’t rich at all -- we were just regular people. When my turn came it was called Vietnam.

When I was in grade school, George Washington was still the Father Of The Country, and Abraham Lincoln had freed the slaves. Hitler and Tojo were bad, and FDR was good. Our Senators, Congressmen, Mayor, and even Eisenhower were worthy of all proper respect. We had a Christmas Pageant in school every year, and one year I got to read the words, “And in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.” I read it well.

Later, I came to know that the Founding Fathers -- as we called them then -- had some character flaws, and were not all perfect men, were not born as alabaster statues standing in a heroic and noble manner on some pedestal. They were more complex and were very much products of their times, as we all are. But what remained irrefutable was that together they had worked a true act of deep genius in creating our Constitution. This Constitution was the framework for what would become, and still is, unarguably the greatest and most powerful and most just nation on the face of the Earth.

We cured diseases, we grasped and understood the very heart of the Matter of all the Universe. We touched the moon six times, represented by a dozen courageous men. None other has touched it since, now over forty years on.

Yes, we had, and have flaws as a nation, but we are mostly honest enough to drag them out into the light and work on ways to cure them. Who doubts that we’ll cure them one day, allowed a fair and level justice system? We assume nothing is hopeless. We assume anything can be fixed or improved. We can make of ourselves anything we wish -- or try. We are not locked into inflexible social roles by cruel inheritance or some rigid caste system. We know Liberty.

Many believe we have very dark days just ahead. A lot of pretty delusions have built up on continued weak and illogical thinking -- and the bill has come due, payable in full, and right now. But we don’t have the money, and the folks running things have been lying so long, and we’ve been buying their pretty lies for so long, that we are all in a very big, deep pickle, and the politicians are all blaming each other rather than rolling up their sleeves and getting to work to fix it. Who doubts that they could, if they only would put their honest and patriotic efforts into it?

We have an entire generation -- maybe two -- of semi-literate, low-information, inept, fundamentally without personal morality or ethics, and completely uneducated in any meaningful sense, and who understand virtually nothing of how anything works, be it their own thumb-phone, or their government. But they vote. They vote based on bumper sticker slogans, fashion, and nothing else, as they parrot the mindless jingles without thinking about what they mean.

It’s our fault -- all of us -- for letting this happen. And this generation of functional morons is not equipped remotely to face the trials that definitely lay ahead in their future. It’s a shame, really. Many will doubtless lose their lives needlessly. But the fires of the crucible of these troubled times will make some into iron people, who have suffered, and come ultimately to understand why, and how to find the path back to proper civilization.

It would seem these tests, trials, and gauntlets must come to every generation for it to truly honor and understand Liberty. We who have passed through it, often hesitate to permit or encourage our young to do it, hoping to shield them from the pain and difficulty of it, knowing how hard it can be. I think we do them an ultimate disservice when we do that, because the lack of the need for rising to the challenge leaves them soft, complacent, and self-absorbed right when they need to be Warriors themselves to even survive.

Put simply, we’ve been living a fantasy for a long time, and the balloon is badly over-inflated and absolutely must pop, and pop soon. And yet so few have a clue.

I hear some folks thinking and planning about what country to move to, to avoid the storm. New Zealand. Costa Rica. Etcetera. They would run from the fight, this worthy fight, to conquer the troubles and restore things to a better way. Fine. Run, cowards. But don’t come back. We won’t be needing you after it’s been re-secured.

I will not leave America in her Dark Hours, for I am not a summer soldier. If need be, I will fall with her, but I will not abandon her for some other place. This is my place, and this is my country, not the government’s, but mine. And yours.

I will stay right here come what may, and fight like a Warrior and work like a Carpenter to restore her to common sense and sanity. I have read Sun Tsu, and I know what to do, and how to do it.

I am an American. I was born to this duty and this blessing. My people have always been bred and are always prepared for this fight.

I am glad for the patriotic sentiment and the historical reality of what you said, but we have tried to re-live a time in our history and make it our present reality without seeking the original cause of that blessed time from long ago.

The answer to all this, is not what we need to change the political landscape with or what Conservative leader we need to replace but what we need to fill the hearts of men with.

The answer is to live, teach and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

We do not need a tea party revival, we need a Bible based revival.

Our nation is doomed because we are no longer a Christian nation. It is only the prayers for mercy from genuine Bible believers that our nation is not destroyed.

We might try to escape to a better land, but we will soon find the same problems there as we had here.

We are rapidly approaching the end times, and we need to tell people there is a lifeboat they can get in.

That lifeboat is the Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone.

Jn 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Jn 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Jn 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:
Jn 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

I too want to thank you for the inspiring thoughts.. I am wont to post Abe's observations from the other side on these matters..

If you could first know where you are and whither you are tending, you could better judge what to do and how to do it. You initiated a policy to tolerate the Marxist-Alinsky radicals and let them rant; not only has it not ceased but was constantly augmented by decades of infiltration and indoctrination. You now have two Americas. In my opinion, it will not cease until a crisis shall have been reached and passed. A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure, permanently, half statist and half free; I do not expect the house to fall; but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing, or all the other.

The question today is either the opponents of statism will arrest the further spread of it and place it on course of ultimate extinction, or its advocates will push it forward till it shall become permanent.

Have you no tendency to the latter condition?

Let anyone who doubts carefully contemplate that now almost complete legal combination — piece of machinery, so to speak — compounded of the Republican Party hands-across-the-aisle doctrine and the dreadful actions among statism's chief architects.

I will simply add that here they are, the "other America's" New Normal ruling elite

I remember them.

The 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus radical, psycho spoiled brats were celebrated in the establishment MSM as the most intelligent generation ever!. They are now arguably that very establishment that praised them and they hold themselves and their ideological issue in even higher regard.

Void the bowels of Washington!

I also believe their will be a wave of individual guerrilla warfare attacks upon federal establishments and some localized sympathizers.

Most will be futile meager potshots ill timed and lacking in focus brought about by reckless poor planning and execution, basically your average American with little or no training will be doing acts of rebellion against a runaway totalitarianism government out of fear.

I do not see any large scale organized resistance groups or any centralized leadership, if anything people will just not accept any leadership as they have no more faith, and nobody has arisen worthy of leadership to defend the constitution.

Some states will have a more determined and organized plan of federal defiance while others will openly hunt down registered gun owners on any rules infringement no matter the smallness of degree. We are already seeing that in the NE where they can say even a textbook is a terrorists weapon.

There were Jews who stayed in Europe hoping for the best when Hitler came to power, anti-communist Cubans who stayed when Castro took over, and Christian Copts who remain in Egypt hoping the Muzzies will spare them.

To call Americans expats “cowards” is to miss the point. When a tipping point is reached, remaining serves no purpose. A needless death or incarceration by the enemy is not more heroic than fleeing such to live to fight another day. Better to regroup abroad than be dumped in a gulag or mass grave.

Word to the wise Sedition is still a crime in this country and if you get charged you’re in a world of legal trouble.

And don’t expect the keyboard commandos on this thread to help with your legal fees. Step away from the internet and enjoy your life and reality.

“I am an American. I was born to this duty and this blessing. My people have always been bred and are always prepared for this fight.”

Please forgive me for what I must write, as I do so very much wish I could accept the above line of yours.

However, living in the epicenter of America's latest and largest attempt at perfecting socialism, the following can't be denied - though I wish it were otherwise.

In the third line I quoted, lies a faulty premise - “My people have always been bred and are always prepared for this fight.”

All the large majority of urban young know how to ‘fight for’ was expressed by the “Occupy” crowd of Gimme Pigs. And don't forget their parents, as exemplified by the “Obama Phone” woman in the famous youTube video.

I cling to the hope that when civil war or race war commie's to America, that there will be sufficient people who will, as Daniel Webster said ‘cling to the Constitution and the Republic for which it stands’.

Having written and taught curriculum for the 4th largest Pooblik Skrewl Collective (Miami, FL), I can find no justification for any optimism. Both teachers and students are woefully ignorant of even the basics of American history and their familiarity with the Constitution is maggot gagging bad.

Worst of all, the young voters (note I refused to call those things young Americans) were deliberately inculcated with concepts which effectively make them immune to education in the sense which you and I use the term.

I fear that when battle comes, so many young will be on the sidelines clutching an EBT card and an iPhone (or joining one of the many Agency of Oppression bureaucracies like Homeland Security, TSA, ad nauseam), that those defending the Constitution will be a white-haired equivalent of Custer's last Stand.

If Reagan and Thatcher were correct in their appraisal of historian Paul Johnson, and I agree with their positive opinion of his writings, then you may understand why Paul Johnson's line “If the American experiment in self government fails, that which will come after will be unspeakably worse.” haunts me when I attempt to see what lies ahead.

Factor in that we reelected a Muslim and are now led by a rabidly anti_American who squats in the White Mosque, and you know why I disagree with your analogizing your parents generation and your family with the unacculturated Urban Ferals, Blacks, Hispanics, imported Muslims, ad nauseam.

Those are not Americans in any historic sense. They are the destroyers of America and they are in Section 8 housing AND in agency and education positions as I type.

Good piece.

Look: no one really knows how this thing is going to play out, but anyone who thinks it will all be settled peaceably and amicably, with the economy allowing us to "grow" out of our troubles - is delusional.

It will be ugly and painful and the country will be divided in a manner the likes of which we have not seen since oh, around 1860.

I'm not leaving. But I am moving to the South next year. I love my home state but it's surrounded by and been invaded by people I can no longer live with, because they are increasingly committed to a vision of government I cannot support, one that takes ever-increasing amounts of my money and freedom.

Lots of comments about civilians taking on the government..

If the two Americas are headed for another civil war there's a large standing military this time and it will have to choose sides and lead.

Otherwise..

A Mockery of Justice The Great Sedition Trial of 1944

There are plenty of precedents to handle opposition even as expressed to date, FDR's DoJ for example.

Fortunately this case was thrown out but not before weeks of trial and extreme hardship for the accused. BTW, a Washington Post employee helped DoJ entrap the victims to force a trial in D.C. These critics of FDR could be described as FReepers -- DoJ lumped in some known Nazi sympathizers to try to stir opinion against them -- the same thing happens today.

.. and here is another precedent: Lincoln defending his decision to end writ of habeas corpus:

should everything fail because that one law "made in such extreme tenderness of the citizens' liberty that practically it relieves more of the guilty than of the innocent . . . [cannot] to a very limited extent be violated?" You want "the government itself go to pieces?"

Lincoln simply ignored Chief Justice Roger Taney. That is exactly what Obama is good at.. ignoring the other two branches of government.

There was no large standing army back then, civilians had to put together their local militia -- much of the standing army was out west. Things are different today.

It’s like a starship chase in Star Trek, you can only run for so long, at some point, you have to turn around and fight. The left keeps pushing and pushing, at some point, one on our side, or more, will explode and hit back much like how Ralphie went total ape on Scut Farkus in “A Christmas Story.”

America elected - - and then RE-ELECTED! - - an African communist as President and Commander-in-Chief.
The parasites outnumber the hosts now.
America is dead and gone. The Democrats won.

Remember America fondly for what it was but meanwhile, hunker down, stay under the radar, hide your assets as best you can, and take care of your family. If you can find a way to game the system and get at least some of the tax money back that you dumped down the government toilet your whole working life, then do it before the Democrat parasites gobble it all up. SSDI is a popular scam these days. Also, maybe you can sign your dog up for food stamps - - nobody in the bureaucracy really gives a crap.

Good luck.

William of Barsoom, you bring me to tears..I know there are many out there like you who just do not have the ability to express our situation as you do..

Most ignorant voters truly are a product of our government run brain washing factories called "Public Education." However, there are others who have learned that they can secure a free ride through life if they vote for democrats. I know of some of these voters and have watched more than one up close..If they are female they got pregnant in high school (the one I describe was the age of 15 when she started having kids)..She had access to birth control but chose not to use it..She wanted to become pregnant. They live with a parent who takes care of the child while they get pregnant with another and then another..The government supports the girl with all kinds of programs, including a new computer which struggling siblings in college cannot afford. Having babies was a lottery for this girl and if her tax-payer benefits got low, she would just steal from her mother by running up credit card debt on the mother's card, the largest amount was $36,000. The mother, a school teacher, is now taking care of three children. The girl (a drug user herself) has gone through man after man, with only the drug user and pusher hanging around for a time. Finally, she gets a job but is fired for some kind of misbehavior. This is a brief example of many of the ignorant female voters who are key in the drive to destroy America. This kind of person does not care about losing jobs..They just go on government welfare which can bring in more than work..Now, they know they can win elections to continue the plunder of the worker population by voting a democratic ticket. It is disgusting and it will not stand. Those disturbed by what is going on are at least half the country at present, but are made to believe that they have no power..I have read that only a committed 3% can change a nation if they so desire. Surely, there are 3% who will join you in saving this great country. If not, then I guess we deserve to lose. The problem is that people do not realize what they have until it is gone forever.
