Will Mary and Matthew get married? What will happen to Mr. Bates? Will Cora's mother and Violet hit if off?

Well, if they dont bring back Lady Sybil I will be sorely disappointed. Killing her off was a headscratcher. Maybe it was a dream...

I’m a big fan of the series but am disappointed with the addition of Shirley MacLean to the cast. I hope she doesn’t end up chewing up the scenery.

Maggie Smith is wonderful !!
Such a classic, skilled actress playing it with just the right amount of humour.

I fear that it wasn’t. Jessica Brown-Findlay is gorgeous.

Shirley isnt just annoying she brings down acting level for the entire cast. She overacts.

She wanted off the show to go on to other things, I read.
She was a cutie, but I didn’t like her husky voice. Someone that young should not have a voice like that.

Agree.
The series is successful enough without bringing on board a bunch of Hollywood has-beens.

Maggie Smith is excellent in her role. She has some of the best lines and her facial expressions just enhance them.

The attitudes of the characters are too contemporary — servants treated with consideration, sitting around the dining table gabbing instead of scrubbing floors or managing the fireplace 17 hours a day, jetting off to the village for errands, marrying for love and not social position etc. The original Upstairs Downstairs was soooo much more realistic.
