After 16 hours of tense talks, the NHL and its players finally achieved their elusive deal early Sunday morning, finding a way to restart a sport desperate to regain momentum and boost its prominence.
Ending a bitter dispute that wiped out a large part of the hockey season for the third time in less than two decades, the league and its union agreed to the framework of a 10-year labor contract that will allow a delayed schedule to start later this month.

Agree. I was looking forward to the season, but now it’s shot to hell.
I live vicariously through my kids. My younger one got to plan downtown at the Forum against a Canadian team.
From May to Oct. I ANXIOUSLY look(ed) fwd to hockey season.

yeah I’m pissed too, but I’ll go back. ya can only take so much NFL and baseball doesn’t start for months.
This contract is for 10 years, there’s an opt out in 7, but it should make for a good run. Really i don’t start paying much attention to hockey until after the super bowl anyway. Annoyed about the winter classic though, it’s a great way to spend new years day.
