My kids love LEGOs, but I do find them on the expensive side for small pieces of plastic.

Go on ebay and buy them by the pound. Some moms sell off their kids collections when they co to college. You can get them in bulk for pennies on the dollar. As for the instructions, all of those are available on the internet.
