LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Two women identified as twin sisters were killed Sunday after being hit by a truck on a South Los Angeles street.
Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department says the incident began as a fight between the pair that spilled onto the streets. It occurred about 3 a.m. on Leimert Boulevard just north of 43rd Street.
“The altercation they were having ended up out on the street somehow,” Eisenman said. “They were both struck by a vehicle.”
A woman, who witnessed the crash, told KNX 1070′s Ed Mertz that a heavyset woman was pulling a thinner woman by the hair.
That’s when the eyewitness says a nearby traffic light turned green and a truck came through and struck the women.
“He hit the bodies and rode them over and the thinner girl who was on her knees just propelled like in the air and then when he got to her body again, he just rolled over,” the eyewitness said.
Eisenman said both women were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver did return to the scene, according to the eyewitness . An investigation was ongoing.

They knew they were twins because they couldn't tell who was the fat one and who was the thin one.
I suppose we could start using Mennonite instead.

OK, now I understand. This occurred on Mars.
They’ve probably identified the sisters, but haven’t released any personal details.
I believe that the type of twins to which you are referring is called "fraternal," or non-identical twins, who each started out as a separate egg, fertilized by separate sperm. I am a fraternal twin. My twin and I look less like each other than do my younger siser and I.
So, the two girls were brothers?

“fraternal” is the term that is used and has been used for eons by doctors and the world in general for twins, including girls, who are not identical. There are two varieties of twin, “identical” and “fraternal,” having to do with the fertilization of one or two eggs.
My comment was to another FReeper perhaps having a momentary lapse, who referred to them as ‘paternal.’ There’s no such thing as ‘paternal’ twins.
