Looking for information on VPN, VPN Software Services and comments on the benefits thereof.

I am tired of looking up a particular product and withing 10 - 15 seconds finding that site sending me emails and pop-up advertising. That scares the hell out of me. I don't like people keeping track of every site I choose to visit because our "Gub'ermint" has access to that information too.

If there are any internet sites that are educational on the subjects, that will work too.

The paid VPN’s or the free ones? If you download using bit torrent, you’ll be amazed at the info they provide in the torrent / download forums like Pirate Bay or KAT, even the anime/manga websites. Once Megaupload got bit by obama’s RIAA/MPAA lackeys, almost everyone were discovering stuff on how to remain anonymous.

You didn’t give enough information to be sure what your technical competency is but for security and anonymity you have a lot of choices. VPN’s like the one i mention below are cheap. For free anon browsing just read up on “TOR”. Don’t do banking, etc.. over it though. Do that in another browser like IE exclusively and only for that.

I've used OpenVPN quite a bit this past year, as well as some higher end commercial VPN products, and I must say I really prefer OpenVPN.

For site-to-site VPN I buy the old USRobotics USR8200 routers whenever I can find them on eBay. This gives you site-to-site without having to do anything on your local computer (however, it does take a bit of a wiz to upgrade the firmware and maintain the thing).
