I’ve been wondering why that point, concerning their responsibility to protect the public, is not brought up more often. I’m quite sure that if one were to bring up that SCOTUS decision from 2005, some liberals heads would pop off.
I’m a cop, but also a very very very staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment. I, like every other cop, are told that we can intervene in forceable felonies when off duty. Just like anyone else. Once I’m off duty, I’m Joe Public, just like everyone else.
My brother is also an officer, however here in Cali he has one big advantage over most state citizens—off duty he carries his ID AND concealed weapon where-ever he goes. I guess I’m partially to blame for that habit from my 20+ years of work in the state correctional system. My horror stories regarding inmate street histories didn’t help....:)
