In honor of my self-proclaimed "Socialist Dictactor-Free Day" (may his Kenyan/Indonesian/Muslim name not be mentioned) I finally joined the NRA. Anybody with me?

Same reason I quit years ago. Use my money for your main purpose not for hitting me up for more donations. Seemed like more donations was their main goal though.

I kept hitting at 7 o’clock although I did get some in the center.

Your center hits may be the result of your anticipation of recoil if the majority of your shots group at '7'. You should have the gun fired from sandbags to determine if the sights need adjustment. If adjusted and nothing else changes, most of your shots will go center and your anticipatory ones that remain will go to '2'.

I am a life Member and I too hate the calls. Guess what, I disconnected my land line to the house...No more calls cause I sure as hell aint giving them my cell number. I still get their mail solicitations.

I cringe when I see their New HQ and think about all the arm twisting and campaign support that could have been used for.

I joined two weeks ago, and signed up the wife and son.

For good measure, I re-joined the Gun Owners of America as well. Their reputation is that they're more aggressive about certain aspects of gun rights even than the NRA.

The instructor must have wondered if it was the gun or me so he did one and it was dead center. He is a competition shooter.

“Paul Meier 2 cards”

For some reason my laptop won’t load this but I understand it’s quite the trick.

so he did one and it was dead center.

Too bad, it means you are a consistent 'jerker'. Recoil anticipation is easier to fix in my experience.

He said I needed to strengthen my left hand grip - which made sense, my right side was overpowering my left side - hence the 7 o’clock.

You think I’ll have a hard time fixing this? There wasn’t much recoil - he said I was doing muzzle flip and too jerky pulling the trigger.

Yesterday was the first time I’ve ever shot except for a long time ago when I had a 20 gauge Baretta and we went skeet shooting.

I read somewhere that the NRA said they weren’t against tougher background checks. Propaganda or another sellout aka “it was the best we could do to prevent even worse laws”???

I wish to Hell our side and stop compromising. We should be counter-attacking as per:
1) Eliminating the 1968 GCA
2) Allow handgun sales across state lines.
3) Allow licensed CCW holders to have firearms shipped directly to them.
4) Put modern-made replicas of antiques under the BATF’s 50-year rule.

Put the opposition on the defense for a change.

You think I’ll have a hard time fixing this?

Not if you really want to, before it becomes a habit. Practice and concentrate for each shot, the shot should come as a surprise as you ease the trigger rearwards. Think and feel your position to help strengthen your muscle memory. This is something overcome by smart practice. Your instructor knows what he is doing and is right about what you're doing, through practice, so will you.

The NRA has been compromising for years:

NRA Supported the National Firearms Act of 1934

NRA Lapses in Principle

“Hope you like telemarketers.”

Actually they are loathed in our household. Since we have several phones lines already due to a home business, the only phone number I give out to organizations like this is one that is never answered that is hooked to an answering machine in the garage that I clear every month or so.

To combat the junk mail issue, we have a P.O. Box I give out for the same purpose.

To combat the email issue, we divert email from organizations we would prefer not to be over-spammed from to the “junk mail” folder.

This way we can support the organizations we like, without being inundated. It works well.

The NRA is running a deal right now for life members to sign up friends and family for $20/year or $300 for life memberships.

I have six life memberships and two annuals I've done so far. It runs until the end of February. I'm not done.

Jim Noble said: "... there has to be a better 2A support organization than the NRA. "

My wife, my daughter, and I are all Life Members. With over four million members it's hard for the media to ignore. You don't hear much about the other organizations through the liberal media.

I question some of what the NRA has done. We'll see if their support of Harry Reid was worthwhile. We'll know in a few months if Reid manages to keep the Senate so busy that they don't even vote on new gun laws.

I also frequently support the Second Amendment Foundation. Whenever they report a result I can appreciate, I log in to their web site and donate at least $20.

I certainly got a lot of pleasure out of seeing the Second Amendment Foundation displaying an oversize copy of the check written to them by the city of Chicago, reimbursing them for their legal costs in pursuing the McDonald case through to the Supreme Court. This case established that the Second Amendment applies to states and municipalities as well as to the federal government. Restoration of my rights in Kalifornia is now that much closer.

Not only did my $20 donations help secure gun rights for Chicago citizens, but the city had to pay it back to the Foundation so that it could be used again. What a country!

I just extended my membership to the NRA, joined the GOA, and will be active with the Virginia Citizens Defense League.
