J.J. Abrams calls getting assigned to direct the seventh live-action Star Wars film as surreal as it is exciting.
The director-producer-writer spoke with a handful of media outlets on the red carpet before darting into the Producers Guild Awards on Saturday night.
Abrams also is proving to be a go-to director of successful new films for long-established franchises, such as Star Trek and Mission: Impossible.
Last week, Lucasfilm officially announced Abrams hiring for Star Wars: Episode VII, which has a tentative release date of 2015. Star Wars creator George Lucas personally endorsed Abrams in a statement: Ive consistently been impressed with J.J. as a filmmaker and storyteller. They have a director, but no script?
But, but, what about “Amazing”, “Awesome”, not to speak of “Fabulous”, and last but not least “Oh, my God!”?
It’s being written by Michael Arndt and Lawrence Kasdan. The story is finished from what I’ve read.
Well he can direct. George Lucas can’t direct heimself out of a torn shredded paper bag.
Unless there is 10 minute scene of JarJar binks being slowly, painfully, and horrifically consumed by fire ants, there is nothing they can possibly do to make up for the awfulness of the last 3 (well really 4) movies
EPISODE 7 “Luke Skywalker and Princess Lia, dancing with the stars.”
EPISODE 8 “The Book Signing Tour.”
EPISODE 9 “THIS WAS YOUR LIFE!”

I was really bummed when i found out this hack is gonna direct a new Star Wars flick.
Oh well, i guess i’ll wait and rent it on Netflix.
Star Wars Episode VII: The Republic LOST.....fades into black out into several starflares...
Doesn’t bode well. At the beginning, Lucas had written nine chapeters.
He clearly threw out most of I, II and III when he made those awful films.
So now I guess any original ideas he penned for the last three are moot.
