My swinging bachelor pad uses nothing but paper plates and plastic dinnerware for this very reason.

Some years back my wife went back East to visit her friends and stay with her parents for a while.

My job wouldn't let me loose that long, so I had to batch it after 30 years of married life.

I ate off the china dishes. When the dishes ran out, I ate off saucers, then the bowls. They all piled up in the sink. When I ran out of china, I ate out of the pots. When I ran out of those, I ate out of the cans.

A month later, when I heard her car in the driveway I started the dishwasher.

I live on a sailboat and use the Glad resealable food containers for dishes. When I'm done eating, put my utensils in the container with a drop of dishwashing liquid and a little hot water, seal, shake and rinse. Dishes done.
