ABC would like you to 'Bet on Your Baby'

ABC has greenlit a new game show in which parents make wagers on the actions of their toddlers. It's called "Bet on Your Baby."

The actual show, mercifully, sounds far less "Hunger Games"-ish than the title might imply. Hosted by Melissa Peterman (ABC Family's "Baby Daddy," "Reba"), the show will feature five sets of parents and their children, aged 2 to 3 1/2, in each episode (so it's more "Bet on Your Toddler"). Each family plays a self-contained game in which the parents wager on the actions their kid will take next.

In other words, there's no tot-vs.-tot competition. All five families then return for a "college round" and the chance to win $50,000 for their children's education -- which, by the time the kids are old enough to attend college, might pay for a semester or two.

I was informed by a teacher friend in an inner city school that her third grade boys have been turned out by their “fathers” for fight clubs in which their elders bet on them.

THE BOYS ARE BEING FOUGHT LIKE DOGS.

(Yes, it has been reported, and immediately went deep underground... and persists quietly still.)

How unutterably boring. I’d be more likely to tune in for drunken Kardashian mud-wrestling.

MSM has no shame.

They will have a reality program on which doctor can do the most breast enhancements in one day if they can get ratings.

The sheep will follow.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but that's hideous.

My teacher friend has seen the bruises and cuts, and the boys talked proudly of how they received them at “Fight Club”.

Not anymore. They show up with the same bruises and cuts, but just refuse to explain how they were incurred.

Has CPS been involved? What are the legalities of something like this?

Yes, CPS was called the first time.

Now, the kids know better than to admit what is occurring.
