Recent articles reported that in 2012 only 6% of non-fatal shootings in Chicago ended up with someone being brought to trial for the crime, much less convicted and imprisoned.
94% of shooters got off completely free. A 1/16 chance of being prosecuted isn't exactly a powerful deterrent to gun violence, is it?

They let these thugs out on parole or probation and then leave them alone to terrorize their neighborhoods, and they want to blame the hundreds of millions of legally and safely owned guns for this epidemic of senseless violence.

I wish that one day the law abiding majority of the black community (aka the primary victim pool for these thugs) would wake up to this and demand that these thugs be dealt with appropriately and that they would also demand their own gun rights, to protect themselves and their families from these thugs. Actually, I think a lot do get it (though you won't see them in the media). They just need to break their old, bad habits, tune out the brainwashing of the MSM and stop voting for the Democrats who condemn them to this misery.
