Samoyed

My first dog (1973) was a Samoyed. Hubby and I got him at a pet store because we didn't know any better.
I knew people who made sweaters and throw rugs out of the fur that got SHED.

Cute puppies! When my daughter was a cub, one of her friends had a Samoyed-the kids all threatened to make slippers from her...

I love my old Husky girl dearly-I’ve had her since she was 8 weeks old-a gray and white fluffball bought from a kennel in Snohomish, Wa.

I also had a dear gray merle Aussie, but I usually go for the big, baaaad dogs on the supposedly vicious list-we had two German Shepards and a Chow Chow, cat lovers, all...

My hub used to threaten to make a toilet-seat-cover out of him! LOL!

I brush Husky girl every day at this time of the year, and into the spring. The raccoons and birds pick up most of the fur piles in the yard to use for nests/bedding-nothing goes to waste.

One spring when our Chow got his annual bear clip, my daughter and I saved the box of clipped hair with the intention of turning it into yarn, but we couldn’t figure out how to spin it. It ended up in a cat bed along with a package of pillow stuffing.

I got to looking at dogs and the Samoyed makes the top ten hypo-allergenic dogs...though they, also, claim there is on such thing. I have had a shih tzu and a bichon frise. the neighbors up the street have Samoyed, but I never knew the breed until today. They were friendly...they would be out late at night in the winter and would wait for me to come around the block every night (about a dozen times) and bark...when I said their name they would just walk along with me....they had/have an invisible fence. We were nighttime buddies. the description says their face always looks like they are smiling. I talked to the owner over the summer and when the older one died the younger one was despondent and went to live at their daughter’s house in the country and is happy there. they occasionally dog sit, but I rarely see her anymore. the male died of old age.

Yes..the “Samoyed Smile” is a well known trait to those who have had them.

My Linda is part chow. I have already burned out two vacuum cleaners!

Much as I hate to say it, there are no hypo-allergenic dogs or cats-it just isn’t logical. I know how much you love dogs-has the allergy thing gotten so bad that you are looking at breeds that are supposed to be less allergy-provoking? If so, that sucks and there is no justice in this world...

My Sheltie doesn’t kick up my allergies like most dogs. Their fur is more hair like.

I apologize for continually harping on the inadequacies of our moronic POTUS. It just pops into the old noggin and gotta exorcise it. Will attempt to direct one-track-mentality toward other pursuits. Thank you to you and yours for allowing me to be here!

I know my cocker spaniel shed a lot....her’s was black and the bichon, is of course white. You couldn’t keep up with Peanut’s shedding, which might have contributed to my allergies.
