Firefox gave me the same warning when opening Free Republic yesterday.
Yep. Google blocking it as malware when linked from there. Google has been in full-blown censorship mode for some months.
IE did the same and I spent the entire night being thrown offline.
Not long ago, drudge’s site whacked me with malware that even Malwarebytes couldn’t get rid of. adtechus.
So, is it safe to ignore it?
I run Firefox with a bunch of security add-ons. They’ve reported nothing suspicious nor has my anti-virus. Just Google.
Just curious. Does this pertain to PC users only?
Must be specific to IE, Chrome, and/or Spybot. I’m using Firefox with AdBlockPlus, NoScript, and Ghostery, and I’m able to get to the website without error.
I don’t know. I would be curious myself. I would have never found the adtech thing if Malwarebytes hadn’t frozen and refused to run past it. I can’t find it no matter how many searches I have done of my computer. But the info it contains is my age, my gender, political attribution, (conservative,) and I don’t know what else because that is all I got from the malwarebytes url. Malwarebytes still freezes on it every time I try to run a scan, and I can’t find it anywhere. Even checked my cookies. Nada. Don’t know where it’s hiding or what it is disguised as. It is driving me nuts.
Did you run hijackthis yet?
Thanks!
Thanks!
No, I haven’t. Lightbulb has been a little dim lately. Gonna do just that! Thank you.
I’lllll be back.
I am MAC and I have MacScan for cookies and spywear but I’m still leery of going there.
I picked up an add on called DealCabby which is constantly popping up commercial videos. It will not let me disable or remove it. Its ticking me off.
I used Firefox with Adblock Plus installed. It is a wonderful ad on.
Is this a permitted use of the FR site, approved by the proprietor?
FYI, FWIW
All that being said, I've been hearing that more and more conservative websites are being classified as "attack" websites by companies like Google, Bing and other like-minded search engines.
As long as the government considers folks like us, and websites like Free Republic, as terrorists or terror front organizations, this will become more and more common.
