GOBBLER'S KNOB -- Seconds ago amid a cheering but bone-chilled crowd, renowned rodent weather prognosticator Punxsutawney Phil failed to glimpsed his shadow, granting the country the welcome winter respite of an early spring, according to lore. punxsutawney_phil_groundhog_day.jpg View full size File photo of the renowned rodent, Punxsutawney Phil, making his annual weather prediction in Gobbler's Knob. Phil's favorable forecast -- one he makes just 10 percent of the time -- only served to fuel the enthusiasm of what organizers said was a record-breaking Groundhog Day crowd. I imagine every year, hopefully Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell get a big check as residuals for having the only modern movie about groundhog day.

Ironically, the movie has been lauded by both Buddhists, for its reflection of their beliefs, and Catholics, as a way to understand Purgatory.

LOL! Funny coincidence, when that comedy first hit cable TV, I had HBO and watched it about 3 times and my wife almost went nuts. I had to avoid HBO for about a month.

“There is no way that this winter is *ever* going to end as long as this groundhog keeps seeing his shadow. I don’t see any other way out. He’s got to be stopped. And I have to stop him. “

“The prediction brought the cold crowd to a fever pitch.”

These people are celebrating an early spring, no mention of global warming, I’m in shock.
