Former Navy SEAL and "American Sniper" author Chris Kyle was fatally shot along with another man Saturday on a Texas gun range, a sheriff told local newspapers.

Erath County Sheriff Tommy Bryant said Kyle, 38, and a second man were found dead at Rough Creek Lodge's shooting range west of Glen Rose, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Stephenville Empire-Tribune. Glen Rose is about 50 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

"Witnesses told sheriff's investigators that a gunman opened fire on the men around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, then fled in a pickup truck belonging to one of the victims, according to the Star-Telegram.

The newspapers said a 25-year-old man was later taken into custody in Lancaster, southeast of Dallas, and that charges were expected."

Very unfortunate. Sometimes you have to leave mental health issues to the professionals. And never ever turn your back on someone who’s mentally unstable.

One of the co-editor of Mother Jones is using this tragedy to push her gun grabbing agenda. She’s tweeting that if guns saved lives, then why couldn’t the Navy Seal protect himself....

Utterly disgusting.

I guess that the second victim was a professional guide from the resort and that it was a resort p/u that was used as the getaway vehicle.

And on the same exact day the Obama Skeet-Gate photo’s released. Uncanny.

What a waste of a talented individual, after what he did for his country,he should have been able to raise a family and stay home.I understand why someone like that, kept trying to do his best for others but in the end that is what killed him.

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (AP) — Authorities say a 25-year-old military veteran used a semi-automatic handgun to kill former Navy SEAL and “American Sniper” author Chris Kyle and his friend at a Texas gun range.

Capt. Jason Upshaw with the Erath County Sheriff’s Office says the handgun was found at Routh’s home.

Routh is accused of killing 38-year-old Kyle and 35-year-old Chad Littlefield at the Rough Creek Lodge shooting range Saturday evening. Authorities say Routh had come to the range with Kyle and Littlefield.

Police say that after the shootings, Routh drove to his sister’s home in Midlothian and told his sister and brother-in-law what he had done. After he left, his relatives called the police.

“....former Navy SEAL and “American Sniper” author Chris Kyle....”

.
I am no Navy Seal nor ex-sniper but if I were, I would definitely not write a book about my exploits.

Even my family would be in the dark.
