February 5, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) A visit by Chinese family planning officials to collect a fine related to the illegal birth of a couples third child ended tragically in the death of the child, reports state media.
According to a briefing from the local propaganda department, 11 family planning officials visited the couple to collect the fines.
The father reportedly became agitated and obstructed the team. Finally, however, his wife agreed to go with the officials for further investigations.
Details about what happened next are sketchy, with the report only stating that the child was found beneath the wheels of the vehicle as it was leaving. He was then rushed to hospital where he died.
An English-language account in China Daily reports the father as saying that the child had dropped from his arms in the tussle with family planning officials, and that the van had started suddenly, before he could get the child out of the way.
Police are said to be investigating the death of the child.
Chinas one-child policy is routinely enforced with coercive measures running from crippling fines to forced sterilization and forced abortion, even into the ninth month of pregnancy.
The couple whose baby was run over had been required to pay a fine of 30,000 yuan ($4,773 U.S.), according to China Daily.
The one-child policy has received heightened scrutiny in recent months, in large part thanks to social media. In one case, a photo of a woman, Feng Jianmei, lying next to the body of her unborn baby, which had been aborted forcibly in the seventh month of pregnancy, circulated widely around the world, sparking outrage in China and abroad.
But while China has said that forced abortions are illegal in the country, experts in human rights in the country say that such abortions occur regularly.
Opponents of the one-child policy have been subject to arrest, imprisonment, and brutal beatings at the hands of the government. One of the most prominent of such opponents, Chen Guangcheng, recently fled to the United States after spending years in prison and then under house arrest.
Recent reports have suggested that China may be considering abandoning the one-child policy, but last month a top family planning official strongly and unambiguously reaffirmed his countrys commitment to the policy.
Evil Chinese Devils.
Did they still have to pay the fine? Did them make them buy the bureaucrat a new tire?
I don’t see it as a special Chinese sin. An American bureaucrat is equally as amoral and destructive.
Give American bureaucrats 10 years. They’ll catch up.
probably charged them for a car wash too
Violation removed, problem solved....
Thanks China ....

We have a ‘CIC’ with no conscience, too. Remember Obama voted against the BAIPA Bill 3 times when he was an Illinois State Senator.
the chinese are immoral, not amoral. they have morals, they are evil morals.
B.S. They’re just people.
The average “man on the street” in china is more than likely okay.
This is the government that does this. The “family planning” people. They are the ones who are evil. Their day is coming.
Exactly. And don’t think we are immune to this. They’re getting better. We’re getting worse.
Let’s make sure we distinguish between the Chinese government and many of the citizens who live under their tyranny. I cannot even fathom what this family is going through.
I find it amazing that we have a Chinese embassy, negotiate, and cut deals with them daily. This is a regime, and let’s remember it’s the same regime, that murdered more people than Adolf Hitler, more people than Stalin, more people than ANY OTHER REGIME IN HISTORY, yet we continue to act as if they’re just minor human rights abusers, like Ecuador. These are the worst actors on the world stage today. We have severed official diplomatic ties with the maniacal regime in Iran. It’s just a shame that the globalized economy doesn’t allow us to give the same cold shoulder to these commie tyrants.
My God. The west TAUGHT them that their biggest liability was their population.
If you can’t figure out I meant the chinese regime, I really think you’re hopeless.
Sorry I offended you. I don’t think we’re that far apart.
i guess i thought it was clear given the context, seeing as i clearly didn’t mean it towards the parents - ie regular proles.
usually when we use a phrase like “the xxxxx” in an article discussing the government of xxxxx, “the xxxxx” is shorthand for thegovt of xxxxx.
anyway, the game clock is back on, so we push forward...
There was a report that China makes 200 billion dollars or another obscene sum on fines for “extra” children. Their government probably wants to keep this coercive law because it guarantees an income stream as well as justifies intrusive monitoring of all citizens.
they didn’t have to learn that from us. they knew already. their system can’t support everyone living at the same levels, and they feared it’d be impossible to stop peasant revolts from the countryside if they could have as many kids as posible. besides they way central planning works with limited ability under communist control, there’s never enough to go around and the city people need food or else the cities become unstable.
it’s just sad but they will eventually suffer greatly for it. we’re suffering for it now.
