There was one in DeNiro's Ronin that was pretty good.

Interesting how he managed to take off the rollerblades and put on slippers when he jumped into the car, without anyone noticing.

I'm a but bored by the digital special effects.

I'm partial to the original "Gone in 60 Seconds!"

I can’t open it at work. However, my personal favorite is the one in Ronin, but there are really a lot of good ones nowadays. Both of the Italian Job movies have pretty good ones.

I own Bullitt on blue ray specifically for the chase scene. I love seeing that same volkswagen beetle over and over. And the bad guy completely misses the gas station, but it blows up anyway. ;-)

The one in The French Connection is danged good too.

I’ve been trying to find that one on DVD. The only thing I remember about that movie is the very beginning where our hero is headed to an accident scene and his car appears to need new shocks.

Go to halicki.com for the movie. But beware—I have it on DVD and the DVD is missing some of the soundtrack that the original VHS has. I believe it’s due to copyright/permissions issues.

I have Wallace and Gromit’s “The Wrong Trousers” on both VHS and DVD. In the VHS version the dog opens his musical birthday card and it hilariously plays “happy birthday” several times as the battery runs down. On the DVD it plays “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow” completely loses the comedic effect.

A classic. The French Connection was pretty good as well.

I’m seeing the problem here. One might as well ask what is the best Rock and Roll song.

no, not really. The title says: The most epic car chase in history of mankind. -I think that settles the issue.

Did it have a guy skitching on rollerblades through a fireball? Or a car that goes off a cliff and then expodes in midair for no apparent reason?

Didn’t think so.
