If I were NASA, I’d have the Rover over there post-haste to make a closer examination.

But it doesn’t look like there is any water up there, so we have to trek on somewhere else!

My personal belief is that they have known there is water and some forms of life on Mars for years.

I wish I could find it now, but back when we were first sending probes to Mars, some newspaper had a great cartoon.

It showed mom and pop Martian, in their slippers, sitting on the porch of their General Store and a US probe was to one side, sticking it's sensor into an box selling bags of ice and sending back a report to earth screaming "There's WATER on Mars!"
