I find it interesting. I have seen some comments right here on Free Republic that illustrate the following example:

The word “But” is a very interesting tool. You can take the word, put a phrase on each side of it, and if you see how it is used, it can be illustrative.

For example: “The guy is clearly a homicidal lunatic “BUT” some of the things he say carry some weight...”

Now, reverse it: “Some of the things he say carry some weight “BUT” the guy is clearly a homicidal lunatic.”

It is an interesting exercise, and seems to make for some strange bedfellows.
