You know, the author remarked on the paintings of bathing/showering alluding to hidden meaning, and I think you may be close to the mark. He does seem to be trying to scrub off the stink of politics and stripping down to his essential self. I also have to agree with the author that he is somewhat a guy in his own world...but then, aren’t we all.

George W Bush - pre 9/11
I like the fact that Bush is a painter. I’d like to see more of his work.
was he really as self assured and confident inside?....did he have cahones of steel to take the constant personal attacks and yet still smile and be happy?...
When former president George W. Bush unveiled his paintings of world leaders during an interview with daughter Jenna Bush Hager on TODAY Friday, it brought back memories of an encounter with Vladimir Putin that revealed a lot about the character of the Russian president.
As you know, our dear dog Barney, who had a special place in my heart Putin dissed him and said, You call it a dog? Bush told Hager.
He continued: A year later, your mom and I go to visit and Vladimir says, Would you like to meet my dog? Out bounds this huge hound, obviously much bigger than a Scottish terrier, and Putin looks at me and says, Bigger, stronger and faster than Barney.
I just took it in. I didnt react. I just said, Wow. Anybody who thinks my dog is bigger than your dog is an interesting character. And that painting kind of reflects that.

Barney once bit a reporter. I think he captured the essence of Barney. The eye says it all.
