“It’s perfect for insurance or pooling of risk.”

You are totally right on about that, but it would make too much sense, so it isn’t done. It is no different than people right here who build in a flood plain, don’t buy enough insurance (usually because they lie about the risk), and then start howling to FEMA as soon as their house ends up in the river.

Thank you! When is that asteroid due to drop by-at the end of the month? Perhaps the Egyptians, Maya, Bible, etc were off by a few months...

I know - it is so silly to keep relying on the government everytime there is a blip on the radar.

Well maybe Pennsylvania is tougher than the liberals in Masshole because as I said before, I don’t recall, nor does anyone in my family, there being any sort of disaster declaration begging for fed money at the time.

The last time it flooded badly in this areas, some people literally lost their homes to the river. They were given FEMA trailers to use until they could collect their insurance and rebuild. When they did, the people dutifully called to have the FEMA trailer picked up and taken to (presumably) wherever such things are stored.

Five of those FEMA trailers appeared overnight on the right-of-way of a cattle ranch just off a farm road. MrT5 told me he just about ran off the road when he saw them off in the distance by a pasture on his way from work one day. Even the rancher professed not to know where they came from, when, or who dumped them there. That was six years ago. They are still there deteriorating, and have not moved one foot...

See how much government agencies appreciate and maintain the property WE paid for to help the victims of disasters?

I have a set of Bose White Noise Cancelling Earplugs which take the ongoing sound and resend it to my ears slightly off-phase. With them I don’t hear a sound from the patients.... Now if they can invent a way to get that look of frenetic terror out of their faces I’d have no need to go to work anymore.
