And apparently such attacks perpetrated by dogs of other breeds are even more rare, or less likely to be reported.

yeah right... My sister and or her dogs have been attacked 3 separate times by pitbulls in the past 5 years. However, she lives in El Paso where there is a high percentage of how shall we say thugs who think its a great thing to get 2 or 3 pits and train them to attack a cloth strung from a rope in their back yard. Then watch the dogs clamp down and thrash the towel.

Then when they get out they become a menace. Two jumped in to our backyard and started eating my sisters toy poodle. I was able to put one of them down but the other jumped the fence.

When I am back in El Paso I make sure I am always carrying...
