Regulators in Brazil ruled against Apple saying the company doesn't have the right to use the iPhone name in the country. Instead, the name belongs to IGB Eletrônica SA who registered the name several years before Apple and is now making an Android OS-based phone it called IPHONE.

Not entirely surprised. Compaq used the name Ipaq a year before there was an Ipod.
Seems to me Brazil loses. “No iPhones for you!”
I would wage total war. Close all Apple stores. Fire everybody. Sue everybody in sight. Like that.
... reason number 16873 why I am not in charge of anything.
No iSoup for you!
Who's in charge of your clinic then?
Then upload a virus to disable every existing Iphone in that country that says “Sorry, no Iphone for you. Talk to your Government about why”.
For Apple, it would be easy since they have such a tight technological grip on the product to begin with
Now you’re talkin’ !
If some pissant third world wants to go to war over greed/power, I think it’s time that companies (and I am no fan of Apple, trust me) companies that ‘can’ mike life hell for government, should.
What do they have to lose? They just had their profits ripped from them there. Make them regret it.
Same for here.
If this company copyrighted the name years before Apple they deserve to use it. And it couldn’t happen to a nicer company. A company that sues because of the stupidest patent infringements in the world. Sue for using square app icons, sue for enlarging documents by tapping on screen, sue for having a product that is square and white or if you go with black you are out of luck too. The list goes on and on... And this from a company who copied Xerox OS. They no longer want keep market share by having the best products, they have taken the legal route instead. They deserve every lawsuits that goes against them.
Amen! Apple realizes it can’t keep increasing or even maintaining its sales of its overpriced, less powerful, one size fits all smartphones while Android manufacturers are producing superior products, so it has switched to the Righthaven business model. Maybe Righthaven can sue Apple for stealing its methods. :)
