Skip to comments.Boehner to Senate: "Get off your ass to avert cuts"

Echoing the frustration of lawmakers throughout Washington hoping for a last-minute swerve to avoid impending budget cuts, House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, used some PG-13 phraseology Tuesday to urge the Senate to action.
"We have moved a bill in the House twice," Boehner said at a press conference Tuesday. "We should not have to move a third bill before the Senate gets off their ass and begins to do something."
The refrain of urging Senate action comes from Boehner just four days before the sequestration cuts are slated to kick in.
President Barack Obama will travel to Newport News, Va. this afternoon to highlight the cuts' effect on the region's shipbuilding community. He will be joined by the area's Rep. Scott Rigell, a Republican.
The White House's road trips to warn of the sequester's impact have drawn criticism from foes.
"He has traveled over 5000 miles the last two weeks, and we challenge him travel a mile and half and come to Capitol Hill," said Rep. Cathy McMorris Rogers of Washington on Tuesday. "Sit down with Harry Reid and urge the Senate Democrats to take action."

Broncho Bamma in white face.
Wow, simply f*****g amazing how obama and co. have boner and the rest of the GOP eunichs jumping through flaming hoops to do his bidding. Remind me again who the conservatives should be backing? Definitely not these big government boot lickers.
So Obama blows more money on another political trip, while we hang on the supposed precipice? PLEASE Boehner, let the whole thing crash. Don’t give in to the Terrorist in Chief.
Why? He owns it, baby!
The house has already passed numerous bills to address the situation. Boehner is nowhere near Obama.
Yea...Go get’em Tiger. We all know what your threats and bravado are worth JonBon. Not a friggin thing.
ObamaCo and his lapdog media pin-ed whatever fallout on GOP, and that would be what "polls" show.
Certainly. Nothing Boehner can do about that. But, he is playing this one right. House passed a bill. He's not negotiating with the Obama. His job is to make sure people know where the legislative process is stuck.
It's McConnell we have to worry about (for the time being.)
Doing nothing and letting the press tell people you are stupid is different than taking action and removing any doubt.
Please get a clue Boehner,
Let the sequestor happen; it is the right thing to do. We need to kill Fedzilla not dance with it.
Hey Boehner, try getting off your knees.
We need a lot MORE cutting
What party are they in anyways?
Boehner is all bark and no bite; the GOP will cave again, it always does. The sad truth is that there is little substantive difference between the GOP and the Democrats, and they both believe in big government and massive spending. There really is only one party — the establishment party — which every election splits into two with a phony debate about their supposed differences which makes good theater but lousy democracy.
Boehner: “Senate get off your ass”
Reid: “Go to your room”
Boehner: “You’re not the boss of me...ok...ok...I’m going”
Nothing like trying to chance the narrative before the ink is dry; instead of pounding away on the airwaves.
Too little too late, Mr. Kleenex.
Yep. And I think he and the Republicans know that. At this point, it's all a matter of positioning for the blame game. Maybe that's why this GOP Rep. Scott Rigell will be doing his Pork Porkie imitation with Ubama in Newport News?
