I believe you do him a disservice; most of what I read indicates a passion for [legal/lawful] justice (he successfully defended the soldiers of the "Boston massacre")... this is very much unlike the disregard for [constitutional] law shown by GHWB via PAtriot Act or the coining of the term "enemy combatants" to grant Al Qeda personnel legal protections they were/are not entitled to (POW rules only apply to uniformed soldiers, which they plainly are not). -- Yes the Alien and Sedition Acts were a big stumbling on the part of Mr Adams, but I think it unwise to characterize the whole of his character on those.
