That’s amazing. I had no idea. It’s clear that if I’m going to fulfill my lifelong dream of living in VA, it will be important to think pretty carefully about where to go.

Just stay away from the coast, Northern Virginia, and Richmond. I am partial to the Blue Ridge mountains, where I lived happily for many years.

Head to the Northern Neck or West of the Blue Ridge.

I would highly recommend the Shenandoah Valley. If you have to live in the Piedmont, stay as close to the Blue Ridge as possible.

My grandfather was born in Gordonsville. He lived in Orange for a spell as well as Charlottesville. But for me, my image of 'home' will always be Augusta County. I will get back there one day.
