Children that pull a weapon on you, utter curse words and disappear into the darkness should be left alone.

If you eat the children first, they are likely healthier and more nutritious while simultaneously conserving much needed future food supplies. If you wait until all the other food is gone, the food will run out sooner as they will be eating until then and there is a good chance there won’t be as much “meat on their bones” at that point.
This sequestration is going to make for some tough decisions about survival.
