Great Day Shooting my Kimber!
Vanity, Uhm Cuz | 3/01/2013 | Vendome

Posted on 03/01/2013 11:11:04 PM PST by Vendome

So I had surgery 6 months to repair a torn and wrecked Shoulder Rotator Cuff.

The pain sucked before the surgery and sucked more afterward.

It held me back from doing just about everything.

I was tired from constantly having to shift to get comfortable and escape the pain and then there was the pain.

Oh it sucked...bad.

But, It's been Six Months and I've had enough of this baloney.

I want to live and live it up.

Went to the range today with my Sweet Baby Kimber Tac II.

She had been missing me and I her but, we clicked right off.

Shot 50 rounds and proud to say I had a good number of groupings under 1 inch with 4 or more shots.

One Grouping had 6 shots.

Pretty dang'd Kewel considering it hurt the entire time and that using a CQB grip with my elbow tucked into my ribs.

Provided better stability and I just may keep this stance.

Rant OFF....

Just feeling pretty pumped that I could do so well given the circumstances.

She’s my girl.

She cleans up real nice too....

The bonus was teaching my Chiropractor about guns.

he has been itching to get one to protect his new family and doesn’t know anyone that has guns and experience.

My brother and brought four different guns to give him experience in different ways each operates so he would understand the basics.

I let my brother play range master because I didn’t intend on shooting much. I wanted to shop for accessories and let them do most of the shooting.

Besides, my shoulder was only going to let me do so much.

I was even prouder to give my friend the benefit of our experience and he learned a lot about buying something because it looks Kewel on your screen, as opposed to actually handling the arm.

He felt completely comfortable on all four guns but, they are high quality and easy to operate.

We are going back and renting various arms to give him a better idea of what he might like and I’m going to hook him up with a friend who is and FBI NRA certified instructor.

Just a thought, you may want to try the following……

Make a 70% solution of DMSO by using distilled water, a few percent one way or another don’t make a whole lot of difference. If you are able to get prescription strength Flurbibrofin, and you probably could get them with your pain, otherwise use Ibuprofen. Take about 10 of the first one or 15 of the latter and grind them up to a fine powder, using either a mortar and pestle or one of those high speed little coffee grinders. Next combine the ground up powder with about 8oz to 10oz of the liquid. Before using it shake it up well. Make sure that the area where you apply it is thoroughly clean and your hands as well as what ever is mixed with DMSO will penetrate your skin and will go in to your system. It worked for me as within about half an hour the pain I had in my shoulder was reduced to very bearable and almost gone. I would suggest you read up and research DMSO first and familiarize yourself with it. OK on the Kimber…..I like my two .38 Super’s stainless by Colt.

I have DMSO and feel I’m just about to the point where I can use it.

I avoided it up til now, as I felt it would mask the pain(feedback) and I reinjure.

From what I understand I can’t reinjure it unless I do something stupid, like what caused the injury in the 1st place.

Now, it’s about working through the final stages.

Congrats on your recent outing. Jealous.
I recently finished rehab on my knee and I observed that shoulder injuries were right up there with joint replacements. I also noticed the patients who were more sport specific minded worked harder and recovered faster. Hope you get through the pain and recover back to your bad self! All the best.

Nice post...hope you’re feeling better soon. I, too, love my Kimber Pro Carry HD II .38 Super. I put RC wrap-around grips and a curved mainspring housing on it, so it fits me perfectly. No bricks (Perfection?) for me.

Welcome back.

My dad has a torn rotator cuff. He is rather senior in age and we have been have postponed surgery. It is too risky at this point. Sounds like post surgery painful. Bummer. Makes the surgery less likely for him.

I enjoyed a Rotator Cuff surgery. Took me 6 months to get over it and sometimes it will still hurt. Good luck.
