I have respect for Leno in as much as he took the job knowing that for many, many years, he would be compared to Johnny Carson, the standard bearer. Leno never tried to fill Johnny's shoes or compete with Johnny's legacy, but for better or worse, and at his own risk, move the show in his own direction.

It was a classy thing to do and says a good bit about his character.

Problem with Leno is his stupid move he went along with to 10 PM and also the fact that he has launched ZERO..count that again...ZERO comedians and gave ZERO comedians the opportunity to break into the business big time. He sold out his stand up brothers and sisters big time.

He broke the Carson code and that is why Johnny never did anything to come out swinging for Jay when everything was going down with him and Dave. Johnny took Dave and had his production company doing his show for a long time. Johnny launched somewhere north of 200 comedian’s careers over his span on the tonight show not to mention musical acts that he broke and gave repeated performances to i.e. Paul Williams.

Hell, I am only 38 soon to be 39 and remember everything from a kid growing up and seeing who Johnny had on and exposed. Leno never did that. Jay is a 60/40 guy for sure...he leans Liberal but will take shots at them 40% of the time. He knows the game and the business.
