Zimmer’s score of the Christopher Nolan film “Inception” so impressed me I paused the film just to look up who did the music.

Zimmer will be scoring "Man of Steel" this summer. The trailer of "Man of Steel" features
"Elegy" by Zimmer partner from Gladiator Lisa Gerrard. Lisa Gerrard is also feature on the OST for "The Bible".

Like the historically epic Miami Vice? Now that had some killer sound tracks.

Movie scores can make or break a movie. So many don't appreciate the elaborate musical compositions that have such an impact on the storyline. The "background" music sets the tone for the moment. Even romantic comedies that touch your feelings are mostly due to the music. Try turning off the sound and see how little emotional impact the movie has.
Some of the best composers:
Williams
Zimmer
Elfman
Bernstein
Morricone
Goldsmith
Horner
Shore
Also, known pop/rock songs can have a huge impact if properly placed. However, I've seen movies where such songs distracted me. Composers, sound editors, music directors are the under rated magicians of movies and TV series.

Moricone, Zimmer, James Newton Howard and Nick-Glennie Smith are at the top of my list.
How fascinating and culturally revealing that the most beautiful and evocative music written today is for films.

Yep. Zimmer teamed up on that one as well with Lisa Gerrard. The duet with Danez Prigent,
Gortoz A Ran-J'Attends, is one of the most haunting songs of any soundtrack. Ever.

“Movie scores can make or break a movie.”
Yes, Zimmer’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” score is the reason I enjoy those movies more than I should.

Bronislau Kaper
Elmer Bernstein
and way too many more.

Leonard Bernstein only wrote one film score but it was one of the all time best - ‘On the Waterfront’.

I nominate Eliott Goldenthal for the movie “Heat”.

Two of my favorite movies with Zimmer scores: The Last Samurai and Gladiator. Great music.
