The Walking Dead Spoiler Bomb:
E Online ^ | March 1, 2013 | Leslie Gornstein

What we're about to say, we say with no bias or agenda whatsoever: The next episode of The Walking Dead just might be one of the best of the season. And by "best," we mean deftly written, subtly played and, in the end, emotionally complex. You know, best.

Just what can you expect? Here's a taste. [mild spoilers below]

Daryl has changed for the better. Merle ... not so much.

Yup, that’s who I’m thinkin’ it is, too.

And, for those folks on this thread who’ve never watched the show and are capping on it, you’re pathetic. The group dynamics and writing are off the charts for a cable series.

Cheers!

The token black guy rule is still in effect. Either Tyreese dies or this guy does not make it the whole episode.

Well, if a sawed-off hand doesn’t make you grateful to be alive, I guess you just get that much worse.

Melissa McBride (Carol) is also in The Mist, but she gets killed fairly early in the movie.

I think all three were brought into TWD by Frank Darabont, the producer of both The Mist and TWD.

In the comic, Morgan and Dwayne Jones do both show up again, but much later in the story, well after the survivors leave the prison and move on to other areas.

I have never watched the show, as it is a senseless Sci-Fi of special effects and makeup wizardry, from ads I saw.

You are wrong. This program is really character-driven.

I am not a zombie genre fan; but, hubby and I were bored one summer evening, and The Walking Dead first season was on Netflix, so we thought we would try it as I had heard good things about it. (When I asked my husband if he wanted to try an episode, he looked at me like I had gone seriously around the bend.) Anyway, after the first episode we were hooked. Good story, good characters. Zombies, yes; blood and guts, yes; but, also a good story and characters you can become attached to and root for.

I remember what got me interested in buying that first season on DVD. I just happened to pick up a copy of Mad Magazine (my first since I was a kid), and it had the spoof of The Walking Dead--a good spoof and funny, issue #512:

Wrong. This show is a documentary about the type of people you will encounter -- and the evolution (usually bad) of people you already know -- after American society breaks down, whether from a currency collapse, Civil War II, or painstakingly choreographed Fabian Socialism.

Per SNL, let me be the first to coin the phrase, “Needs more Daryl.”

I don’t get why people come into a thread that is obviously about a tv show and then say they have never seen it and never will. Who cares!

My wife and I love the show and look forward to each one. When we were watching on Netflix, we sometimes watched 3 or 4 in a row. Kinda like we did with 24 when it was on.

I’m amazed that people still think the series is simply a typical zombie gore show. There were a number of episodes in Seasons 1 and 2 where there were only 1 or 2 zombies killed each episode—for example, the episode with the well walker, he was the only zombie killed. And the well walker was more of a character thing too, showing Maggie’s revulsion at the killing of the zombies.

A lot of the time the undead really amount to nothing more than a few dirty people wandering in the background of the story, while the plot and characters are developed in the foregrond.

Since Darryl will be Credits Only for the episode tonight thank you for giving me, my Darryl fix. Luv that guy! Wish you had added his crossbow to make it more complete. That is like having a peanut butter sandwich without the peanut butter lol. Anyway thanks for posting that pic =)

You couldn't possibly be more wrong.

I have much better things to do with my time than watching Hollyweird productions of nonsense.

That is always your choice, but why come here to pee on our parade. Have any of us said any thing derogatory about something you enjoy?

It's just someone with a lot of time on his hands who thinks it'll be fun to pop in and throw a little snark. He made his call based on an ad; he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

If you watch the ending of The Mist again (and it’s hard to do, I admit), you’ll see Melissa McBride’s character in the back of the Army truck, crammed in with a bunch of other people.

The group dynamics and writing are off the charts for a cable series.

WD is breaking viewership records for a cable show. It is doing better than many broadcast network programs. Last week viewership -- 11.01 million.
