Another day, another Star Wars rumor -- though this one is more trustworthy than most.
In a new profile in Bloomberg Businessweek, George Lucas and Disney executives discuss the long road that led to the purchase of Lucasfilm in October. Of particular interest for fans of the movies is the fact that Lucas confirms that he had begun talks with original Star Wars stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford to have them return to the franchise for its new films -- before he had even begun the process of the corporate offloading.
"We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison -- or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation," Lucas told the magazine. "So I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on.' Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-dee-doo, but we were negotiating with them. … I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not."

Since Disney now has control, I hope there are people willing to tell Lucas how stupid and terrible his ideas are. It’s too bad Lucas didn’t sell the company before he ruined the prequels.
Disney knows how to make marketable products but I don't have a lot of confidence in their ability to make engaging science fiction.
That's not true.
Hammill played Christopher Blair in the Wing Commander [game] series (3 & 4 had movie cut-scenes, as well as Prophecy) -- additionally in the 90s show The Flash (DC Comic superhero) he played the Trikster, in which you could see the core of his next role: Joker on Batman the Animated Series. {While that isn't full-out acting, he did a superb job on the voice-acting.}
So he hasn't been utterly inactive.

Maybe they can get Keith Richards to play Harrison Ford’s dad.
Still have to find some credible role for Johnny Depp.

Barack Obama is getting hired as a consultant.
Instead of womp rats, he may have shot himself, then went off to Burger King (too many times).
