I’m not sure those rock musicians really worshiped Satan. They might have pretended to on stage in order to project some kind of pathetic ‘bad boy’ image to try and look all cool and rebellious, but I doubt they actually did.
These people are/were pathetic, and deserve to be seen as such. Actually suggesting that they really did worship Satan as his dedicated acolytes is giving them a mystique that they don’t really warrant IMHO...

It is totally an attempt to be one with satan and the material creation. LOads of the musicians of the time were into it.
